Utility stores open tenders to acquire sugar

Under the Prime Minister's relief package, sugar will be sold at Rs70 per kg and the Utility Stores Corporation has launched process to acquire the commodity, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
As per utility store officials, steps are being taken by utilities stores for the availability of sugar and utility stores have initiated tenders for the acquisition of 50,000 metric tonnes of sugar. Utility stores were given bids at Rs75 per kg in this regard.
The price of the sugar to the corporation, including expenses, will now be around Rs80 per kg. The difference in the purchase and sale of sugar will be covered by the subsidy.
