The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Caretaker Cabinet on Tuesday approved the Telecom Infrastructure Sharing Framework, facilitating the sharing of telecom infrastructure among service providers, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Caretaker Federal Minister for Finance, Revenue, & Economic Affairs Dr. Shamshad Akhtar chaired the meeting of the ECC.
The ECC made key decisions to address concerns related to inflation and various economic matters.
In response to rising inflation, the Ministry of Finance established a committee tasked with monitoring the prices of essential daily commodities.
“This committee will provide comprehensive recommendations on price monitoring to the ECC.”
The ECC approved the release of mobile broadband spectrum which was expected to enhance mobile connectivity and internet access across the country.
The finance ministry also constituted an advisory committee to oversee the sale of unsold spectrum.
The ECC granted approval for the continuous supply of gas to fertilizer factories, a decision aimed at supporting the agriculture sector.
However, a committee has been formed to review and potentially adjust gas prices for these factories.
In another development, the ECC conditionally approved the conversion of Tuwairqi Steel Mills to National Steel Mills Ltd, with the legal aspects of this matter slated for review by the Ministry of Law.
