In a terror attack in Qilla Saifullah, Balochistan, the convoy of the Deputy Commissioner came under heavy fire, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the Deputy Commissioner and his security staff remained unharmed during the incident.

The channel also reported that the security personnel responded promptly to the attackers, forcing them to flee the scene.

However, one of the vehicles in the Deputy Commissioner's convoy sustained damage due to the firing of the terrorists.

Despite the attack, security forces in the district remain vigilant. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the attackers.

Qilla Saifullah is a district in northwestern Balochistan province. It was established as a district in 1988, comprising two former administrative units of Zhob District: the Upper Zhob sub-division and the sub-tehsil of Badinai.

Qilla Saifullah is a fort (qilla) built by Saifullah Khan, belonging to the Mirdadzai Khoidadadza tribe of Kakars. Qilla Saifullah District derives its name from this fort.

The British sent its Zhob Expedition in 1884 to occupy the Zhob region through Baratkhail. Meanwhile, the castles of Saifullah Khan Khoidadzai and Shah Jehan Jogezai (King of Zhob) were demolished.

On 7 October 1884, an assault on the Qalla (castle) of Shah Jehan near Akhterzai resulted in the killings of many tribal people, including Malik Hamza Daulatzai and Mohammad Ghous, who fought bravely.

All 500 tribal Sardars (heads) admitted their submission before the British forces and also signed an agreement that they would not interfere in the affairs of the British Government in the Zhob region except Saifullah Khan Khoidadzai and Shah Jehan Jogezai, who had a narrow escape from the battle scene and established themselves at Kalat, where they used to operate their insurgency campaign against the British and never subdued before the British occupying forces.
