CAA notifies closure of Karachi airport’s main runway to remove tyres’ rubber

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Thursday announced that in order to remove pieces of the rubber detached from planes’ tyres, the main runway of the country’s largest airport, Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, would remain closed for a period of one month from Monday to Friday in specific hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The runway would remain closed between April 4 and May 3.
According to the notification, on Monday the runway will remain closed from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM; on Tuesday from 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM; on Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM; on Thursday from 7:30 AM to 10:00 AM, and on Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM.
According to the notification, during the closure of the main runway, flights will be able to take off and land at the airport’s secondary runway.
