Poster dispute escalates into gunfire, injuring youth in Gujranwala

A dispute over the posting of election posters has led to gunfire, leaving a young man injured in the residential area of Bheekopur in Gujranwala, reported 24NewsHd TV channel Sunday.
According to police officials, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Civil Lines Police Station while posters, belonging to an independent candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) named Mobeen Arif Jat, were being affixed to the walls of a house owned by Fayaz Butt.
Fayaz Butt, the homeowner, intervened to prevent Mazhar from continuing the process. The situation escalated when Mazhar refused to cease putting up the posters.
Subsequently, Fayaz Butt opened fire, injuring Mazhar.
Following the gunfire, the assailant fled the scene, and Mazhar was promptly transferred to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical treatment.
Mobeen Arif Jat is contesting as an independent candidate from NA-78 against Khurram Dastgir of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The police are currently searching for the suspect involved in the shooting, while the motive behind the altercation remains under investigation.
