A seven-year-old boy stunned all and sundry when he set a world record by covering 21.1 kilometers of distance in two hours and 13 minutes in the second marathon held at the Seaview in Karachi on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Muhammad Haris improved his performance which he showed in the first marathon when he covered the same distance in two hours and 15 minutes.

Earlier, Israr Khattak of Peshawar, won the full-marathon.   

Israr covered the distance of 42 kilometers in two hours, 29 minutes and 58 seconds, while Muhammad Riaz, from Bahawalpur, grabbed the second position. 

Riaz covered the same distance in two hours, 32 minutes and 10 seconds.

Prior to that, Muhammad Akhtar from Sahiwal won the half-marathon. 

Akhtar covered 21.5 kilometers of distance in one hour, 12 minutes and eight seconds.  

Muhammad Qasim from Sialkot, who finished as a runner-up, covered the distance in one hour, 12 minutes and 53 seconds.

Muhammad Usman, from Attock, remained third.

Mumtaz Naimat, from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), won the title for girls.

She covered the distance in one hour and 43 minutes.  

People belonging to different walks of life, including politics and showbiz, participated in the race.

Strict security arrangements had been made for the event.
