Gas prices go up soon after reopening of CNG stations in Sindh

The CNG stations have been opened after a long suspension in Sindh including Karachi, but the gas has become pricier after the reopening of the stations, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
Reportedly, the initial increase in the gas price has been recorded at Rs17 and the gas prices has been hiked from Rs123 per kilo to Rs140 per kilo.
The CNG stations are selling gas at the new rate.
The CNG stations opened on Monday after a suspension of more than two weeks as the stations have started receiving the supply of gas. The gas supply was stopped to the stations since June 22.
Talking to media, CNG Stations Association Chairman Abdul Sami Khan said that gas price could be jacked up from Rs17 to Rs22. Currently, gas is being sold at Rs123 per kilo in Karachi. The pump manager said that new rate had not been fixed as yet.
But in reality, the gas stations are selling gas at Rs140 per kilo.
The Sindh authorities announced closure of CNG stations for an indefinite period from June 22. Sameer Najmal Hussain, a CNG body's provincial head, said commuters and owners of CNG station across the province were landed in trouble following the order. According to SSGC, the decision was taken following the orders of the federal authorities.
