Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar has successfully obtained a legal stay order from the court to halt the production of his supposed biopic, Rawalpindi Express.

The speedster made the announcement on his Twitter account.

Expressing his concerns, Akhtar voiced his dissatisfaction with the filmmakers’ persistent “threats” to continue filming despite the termination of their agreement.

He said any person involved in the project should know that it's completely illegal and they will be responsible for any reputational loss.

Back in January, Akhtar publicly disassociated himself from the biopic, which is being directed by Faraz Qaiser, Shoaib Ahmed Khan, and Hassan Zahid and issued a stern warning, cautioning the filmmakers about the severe legal consequences they would face if they proceeded with the film and exploited his name or life events without his consent.

The movie has been in the news due to the uncertainty around the cast as singer-actor Umair Jaswal was supposed to play the cricketer’s role but later dropped out.

Akhtar is currently promoting another docu-series, Cornered Tigers: The 1992 Story.

Directed by Adnan Sarwar and produced by Nina Kashif, the series takes a heartfelt trip down memory lane, revisiting some of the most unforgettable moments in the history of Pakistani cricket.
