Met office has predicted new rainy spell for Balochistan from Tuesday evening as Gwadar and 15 other districts are likely to be severely affected from the spell, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the report, another spell of heavy rain was predicted in Karachi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir’s areas during the next 48 hours. The cloudy and chilly weather was expected across Punjab.

In Lahore cloudy as well as chilly weather was expected during next 24 hours while provincial capital was ranked second in global air quality index.

In an advisory Met office warned that weather in the upcoming weeks could lead to flash flooding, snow bloackages and landslides in multiple parts of the country. The area’s most likely to be affected by the rains include Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan, Upper and Southern Punjab and Balochistan, it said. Meanwhile, the weather remained cold and cloudy in most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Sindh will remain in the grip of a severe cold wave.

It is pertinent to mention that at least 35 people have been killed and 50 others injured due to heavy rains that have swept Pakistan since Thursday, causing several houses to collapse and landslides to block roads, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas, authorities said. At least 30 rain-related deaths were reported in various areas in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
