Relations between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani and Inspector General of Police Dr Sanaullah Abbasi have soured as the latter has refused to toe the line of the former who is reportedly not in the favour of the implementation of Supreme Court (SC) order in the case of ‘illegal promotions’ made in the police force, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
24News TV channel had broken a story four days back according to which dozens of non-deserving police personnel in KP had been promoted at the cost of eligible ones.
And when those who qualified for the senior posts approached the Supreme Court, the latter ordered the demotion of the police personnel who had been promoted in violation of the rules and regulations.
However, the apex court’s order was not implemented.

Sources have told 24News TV channel that soon after the news broke, KP Assembly Speaker Mushtaq Ghani summoned the IGP Dr Sanaullah Abbasi in his chamber in the presence of police personnel winning promotions and pressured him to forward the case to the Law Department instead of implementing the Supreme Court order so that the matter could be prolonged.
However, the sources added, the IGP Abbasi refused to comply with speaker Ghani’s orders.
It has been learnt that the KP IGP is firm and resolute to implement the Supreme Court order.
The sources have further divulged that the KP Assembly speaker has also not listened to the grievances of deserving police officers.
