Amnesty International India urges FATF against human rights violations on policy critics

Amnesty International India Saturday requested the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) to take notice of the human rights violations under the guise of laws by the Indian government, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported.
Indian government launched the worst crackdown on human and social rights activists and organizations in India in the name of counter-terrorism.
The Indian government has adopted the worst tactics against critics of its policies and the victims of the crackdown plead to FATF for taking notice.
The Indian authorities have exploited FATF’s recommendations which aim to prevent terrorist financing as part of a coordinated campaign to restrict civic space and stifle the rights to freedom of expression, association, and peaceful assembly.
The protestors said that The Indian authorities have weaponized laws to crack down on the human rights work by HRDs, activists and non-profit organizations in the country.
The board of Amnesty International India Chairman Aakar Patel said that the authorities are using bogus foreign funding and terrorism charges to target, intimidate, harass and silence critics, in clear violation of FATF standards.
The illegal activities of the Indian Hindutva government are a clear violation of human rights and FATF directives, which have become imperative to take notice of.
