Cricketing world applauds Babar Azam's cover drive

Pakistan cricket team captain, Babar Azam, is renowned for his cover drive, a shot that has become his signature on the cricket field.

Recently, the International Cricket Council (ICC) released a video showcasing Babar Azam’s exquisite cover drive. In the video, several cricketers, including Australian batsman Steve Smith, were asked to rate the best cover drive.

Most of them, including Shadab Shan, Hasan Ali, Haris Rauf, and Imamul Haq, rated Babar Azam’s cover drive as the best.

When asked about his thoughts on the cover drive, Babar Azam responded with a smile, saying “myself.” This response reflects his confidence and mastery over this particular shot.

Former England cricketer turned commentator, Nasser Hussain, also praised Babar Azam’s cover drive. He suggested that any young cricketer aspiring to master the cover drive should closely observe Babar Azam. He stated, “If any young boy wants to learn cover drive, I would say watch Babar Azam.”

Hussain further added, “Sorry Indian fans I’m gonna be biased and go with Babar Azam. I nearly went with Kohli but he is slightly different. He has the fast flick of the wrist but Babar has the conventional way of playing it.”

Babar Azam’s cover drive has been a topic of debate among cricket enthusiasts. Other cricketers known for their cover drive include Virat Kohli, Shai Hope, Joe Root, and Kane Williamson. However, Babar Azam’s cover drive stands out for its technical correctness and elegance.

Babar Azam is currently dominating the cricket world. He is the only batter to be ranked in the top three across all formats. He holds the top spot in white-ball formats while he is placed at the third spot in Test cricket.
