The caravan of PTI workers from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), led by the provincial Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, remained stuck at Katti Pahari in Attock throughout the night as they could not cross the point despite their repeated efforts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Even the heavy machinery, which the protestors had brought with them, failed to clear the way.
Earlier on Friday, the motorway, surrounding Katti Pahari, turned into a battlefield as the protestors, who also had sticks with them, kept flinging stones at the police and other law-enforcement agencies (LEAs) while the latter used teargas shells to keep them at bay.
In order to neutralize the effects of shelling, the protestors set the bushes in the area on fire.
Large contingents of the Punjab Police, Pakistan Rangers and the Elite Force remained deployed at the site to ensure that the PTI workers did not march towards Islamabad.
