Tainted officers suspended over pension funds scam

The Sindh government has suspended 14 officers of 10 districts on charges of embezzlement in pension funds, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Sindh finance department detected a misappropriation of billions of rupees distributed through fake payments of pension benefits. Most of the fake payments were made during the period between 2007 to 2022 by the suspended treasure officers.
There have been reports of major embezzlements marring the distribution of pension benefits in Sindh, where sums of money have been allegedly taken out through fake payments made by district treasury offices of the province.
The suspended officials include Fayyaz Solangi, Ghulam Rasool Behan, Mohsin Ali Dal, Mujahid Tanuri, Amir Bakhsh Buzdar, Shahnawaz, Muhammad Irfan Solangi, Ghulam Sarwar Panhiyar, Ali Mohammad Memon Anwar Ali Haliputo, Abdul Majid Khan, Ashfaq Ahmad Panhiyar, Zohaib Hasan Buzdar and Mehboob Khan Mallah.
The officers were accused of corruption and embezzlement of pension benefits.
