Making it clear that the party’s sit-in at Liaquat Bagh, Rawalpindi would continue until the government accepted its demands, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Tuesday announced the start of a sit-in march from Thursday, adding he would share details of the march tomorrow, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

He further said that at the same time the party would also hold negotiations with the government so that the way out could be found.

He also announced a sit-in in Lahore on August 11 while in Peshawar on August 12.

The JI Ameer also said that the party would announce a countrywide shutterdown strike after August 14 following consultations with traders.

He lamented that those very people who were responsible for the burden on masses had been included in the task force formed by the government. “WAPDA chairman, the auditor general of Pakistan and traders should have been the part of the Force,” he said, adding, “Unfortunately, they are not its members.”

Hafiz Naeem said that the JI did not want the country’s situation to deteriorate further. “There are many people who are to blame for today’s pathetic situation.”
