Judicial Commission recommends appointment of Justice Ayesha Malik as SC judge

The Judicial Commission meeting Thursday recommended the appointment of Justice Ayesha A. Malik as Judge of Supreme Court, 24NewsHD reported.
A meeting of the Judicial Commission chaired by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed was held in the Supreme Court in Islamabad.
Five members of the Judicial Commission supported, while four members opposed the appointment of Justice Ayesha A. Malik as a judge of the Supreme Court.
Justice Ayesha A. Malik will have the honour of being the first woman Judge in the Supreme Court.
Justice Ayesha A. Malik will also have the honour of being the first woman Chief Justice of Pakistan, sources said.
Justice Ayesha A. Malik was appointed as a Judge of Lahore High Court on March 27, 2012
Justice Ayesha A. Malik is currently ranked fourth in the seniority list of Judges of the Lahore High Court. Following her appointment in the Supreme Court, Justice Ayesha A. Malik will retire from the Supreme Court on June 2, 2031.
It is pertinent to mention that last year in September, the Pakistan Bar Council opposed the appointment of Ayesha A. Malik as Judge of the Supreme Court.
