The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will convene a meeting today in Quetta to see the crescent for the holy month of Muharram ul Haram.

The meeting will be chaired by Central Ruet-e-Hilala Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad who is also an Imam of Badshahi Mosque in Lahore.

Members of the central and zonal moon-sighting committees from Quetta will participate in today's arrangements.

The meetings of the zonal moon-sighting committees from other provinces will be held at designated locations.

It is worth mentioning that astronomer Javed Iqbal has forecast that the Muharram moon is unlikely to be sighted on Saturday evening.

According to astronomer Javed Iqbal, the moon was born at 3:57 AM today and is expected to be visible on July 7.

On July 6, the moon will be 15 hours and 29 minutes old at sunset, with a visibility window of about 42 minutes after sunset.

Astronomer Javed Iqbal also mentioned that the monsoon clouds and mostly cloudy skies will further reduce the chances of sighting the moon on July 6.
