More taxes to be imposed on imported mobile phones in budget

It is proposed to the federal government to increase taxes on imported mobile phones and other imported luxury items in the next fiscal year's budget 2023-24, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Monday.
According to the report, in the budget, there is a possibility of increasing duty on mobile phones worth more than 100 dollars but the sales tax rate on imported vehicles will remain at 25 per cent.
The channel report said the sales rate on imported tiles, carpets and sanitary ware will also remain at 25 per cent.
In the next fiscal year's budget, there is a proposal to maintain sales tax at 25 per cent on imported appliances and electrical appliances.
While it is recommended to retain a 25 per cent sales tax on chocolates, cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, cornflakes, cereals, cosmetics, shaving supplies and tissue papers.
