PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz Sharif has raised objections over the government’s lackluster response to the Pandora Papers leak wondering why the government has not formed a Joint Investigation Tribunal (JIT) or Panama Bench or where is the NAB, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
She was talking to media outside the Islamabad High Court after attending hearing of appeals against her conviction in Avenfield reference on Wednesday.
Maryam, the daughter of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, held that an elected prime minister was removed by raising a den of ‘Panama Panama’ and a JIT was formed to frame him. She said that Nawaz was removed on Iqama, instead of Panama.
She alleged that political cases were made against her and her father. PML-N leaders were asked to leave the party, she further stated.
She maintained that the 2018 election was stolen which gave power to the present government.
Deriding the government initiative to set up a cell that would probe the Pandora Papers leak, she stated that Prime Minister Imran Khan himself refused to reveal the details of Tosha Khan, how come his ‘ATM’ team led by him could investigate the Pandora Papers scandal.
On the NAB chairman extension, Maryam was of the view that it showed government’s mala fide intention. It’s a deal. The NAB chief will make cases against the government’s political rivals and will get extension in exchange, she alleged. She held that giving extension to NAB Chief Justice ® Javed Iqbal was unconstitutional and unlawful.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court fixed Oct 13 date for the hearing of Maryam Nawaz’s appeal.
However, hearing on NAB’s appeal against her husband Capt ® Muhammad Safdar would be held on daily basis.
The court adjourned hearing on Maryam and Capt (r) Safdar’s main appeals till Oct 13.
