The Sharjah Cricket Stadium, one of two stadiums for the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 in the United Arab Emirates, has created history by becoming the venue to host most international matches.

Sharjah Cricket Stadium reached yet another great achievement and broke the record for the most matches ever played after the T20 Asia Cup 2022 match between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan on Saturday.

This distinction was previously held by Sydney Cricket Ground. Sharjah has hosted a total of 281 matches, including 9 Tests, 244 ODIs, and 28 T20Is.

"It is a really pleasant time and we are thankful to all the thousands of fans who have been enjoying the cricket here for the past 40 years," Abdul Rahman Bukhatir stated in response to getting this recognition.

An important point to mention at this point is that the last game played in Sharjah Cricket Stadium Afghanistan and Sri Lanka broke several records.

Sri Lanka chased the highest-ever run at the venue and the highest-ever chase in a T20I match against Afghanistan.
