State Bank of Pakistan shortlists new designs for currency notes

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has shortlisted new designs for currency notes after careful review by a committee of experts, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to central bank, State Bank has shortlisted 10 to 5000 new designs. Two designs of 10 rupees, 500 rupees and two designs of 5000 rupees have been shortlisted.
Fatima Jinnah's images has been placed on 500 rupee note while the picture of Quid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah has been printed on 10, 20, 100, 500 and 5000 rupees notes.
Liaquat Ali Khan’s image has been put on 1000 currency note. There is a chain of hands image on the reverse side of 1000 note.
The SBP said new design are being sent to international designers and after due process new designs will be finalized.
Earlier, in January 2024 State Bank of Pakistan had invited the general public to submit designs for new currency notes as it initiates the process of replacing the existing banknotes.
SBP said that local artists and designers’ participation in design competition was commendable.
The central bank said Dr. Sherry Abdi’s ten rupee note designs bags first prize. The second prize of a ten rupee note was given to artist, designer Mirza Sufyan. The prize of Rs 20 note was won by artist, designer Mirza Haroon Khan. 100 rupees and 5000 rupees note prize was won by artist, designer Ms. Maimoona Afzal.
The first prize of Rs 500 note was won by artist, designer Ms. Hadiya Hassan and the prize of Rs 1000 note was won by artist, designer Ms. Noreen Aslam. The prize of Rs 5000 note was won by artist, designer Karim Muhammad.
