After facing a backlash on its faux paus in the voters list, the Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to re-verify voters who are aged 100 or above in a door-to-door campaign, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources informed on Sunday that the ECP directed all four provincial election commissioners to re-verify voters who are aged 100 and above.
The ECP is facing a severe criticism for showing 115,100 alive voters as dead whose age was 100 and above.
However, the ECP on Saturday confessed that 115,100 voters were added to the list of dead people due to a mistake in typing, but after re-verification, the voters were inducted into the electoral lists.
ECP has directed all the field offices to assure the publication of the voters’ list after verification on August 25.
In the first verification drive, 3208895 voters were declared dead while 3093877 voters were declared dead after the re-verification campaign.
