The brutal murder of Dr Shahid Siddique in Lahore has revealed startling details about the motive behind the crime, 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police sources, Dr Siddique, an owner of a prominent private hospital and local leader of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) was allegedly killed by his son, Qayyum, after refusing to buy him a luxury car worth 130 million rupees.
The demand for the car was reportedly driven by Qayyum's desire to impress his girlfriend, who was fond of the luxury vehicle.
Dr Shahid Siddiq, a well-known figure in the city, had refused to fulfil his son's extravagant request, leading to severe discontent between the two. Despite his refusal, Dr Siddiq had secretly booked the luxury car as a surprise gift for Qayyum’s birthday, known only to Dr Siddiq’s wife.
The surprise gift was scheduled to arrive next week, adding a tragic twist to the unfolding events.
The sources added Qayyum, who has a history of drug addiction, particularly ice had previously orchestrated a theft in his own home a few months ago.
His erratic behaviour and lifestyle had been a constant source of tension within the family.
The police investigation further revealed Dr Siddiq had been providing Qayyum with pocket money of Rs 500,000, but Qayyum had recently demanded an increase to Rs 3 million per month.
Dr Siddiq had persistently urged his son to abandon his bad habits and to join his business, but to no avail.
