Federal Interior Minister Ijaz Shah Monday got a shot of a trial vaccine of COVID-19 from China in Lahore at the University of Health Sciences (UHS), reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

UHS vice chancellor Prof Dr Javed Akram received the interior minister upon his arrival for the vaccine, which has been in phase three of clinical trials. The minister's staff members were also administered the trial vaccine.

Prof Dr Javed said the initiative by the political leaders to undergo vaccine trial would boost the trust of the people in vaccine and more volunteers would come forward. He said more than 9000 volunteers have been administered with the coronavirus vaccine.

Earlier on Saturday Governor Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar, his wife and staff members also received shots of the China-made coronavirus trial vaccine at the University of Health Sciences in Lahore.

The university is conducting tests of the vaccine since October 2
