Lahore gets first-ever transgender school

Provincial Minister Punjab for Education Murad Raas Wednesday inaugurated the first ever Transgender School in Barkat market Garden Town Lahore which will be providing the students with education, books, uniforms, school bags and even pick and drop services free of cost, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Education Minister, during the inauguration ceremony, said that the transgender community has been facing major difficulties and problems ever since in Pakistan and the main goal behind this school is to eradicate the difficulties faced by the community and clear ways for them to grow and move forward and compete with the rest of the world.
The students of the school will also be given technical education and taught household skills like cooking, sewing clothes, make-up and other courses.
Important personalities including designer HSY, Pakistan’s first-ever Trans Ph.D. holder Alisha Sherazi, transgender community leader Neeli Rana and others also participated in the ceremony.
Neeli said that Acquiring education is a dire need of the hour.
Alisha said that she is already seeing the changes in the history of Pakistan just due to the opening of such a school.
HSY stated that the government’s steps towards the transgender community is very appreciated and valued.
The opening of Transgender School has paved the way for the community to get education up till intermediate and get respectable jobs in various respectable fields.
