Carnival-like atmosphere outside Zaman Park as PTI workers form ‘human shield’ around Imran

February 7, 2023 09:00 PM

Ever since former prime minister and PTI Chief Imran Khan has come to Lahore, his Zaman Park residence has become a hub of political activities, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

When Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was the Punjab chief minister, there were few PTI workers and more security personnel outside his residence, but now ever since the Punjab Assembly has been dissolved, and an interim setup has taken over, there are hundreds of PTI workers and supporters camped outside PTI’s chief home.

There is more hustle bustle at Zaman Park since last night. It appears as if a carnival is going on there.

Let’s find out what is the reason for this activity.

Three days ago, on February 4, 2023, Imran had announced ‘Jail bharo Tehreek’ as a reaction to the arrests of PTI workers and leaders.

He had further said that the government had planned to arrest him so that the opposition party could be sidelined and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan could be made possible.

Later commenting on PTI chief’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ statement, PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz had suggested that the movement should begin from the Zaman Park.

However, it appears that the former prime minister has taken Maryam’s talk to his heart and is, therefore, using his party workers as a human shield.

On the other hand, sources in the PTI have told 24News that the party has started making preparations for offering themselves for the arrests, and in this connection, party’s district and regional organisations have been assigned the tasks.

Lists of the PTI leaders workers ready to turn themselves into police will be prepared.

Sources have disclosed that 500 party workers from each provincial assembly constituency will volunteer themselves for the purpose.

Sources have explained that ‘Jail bharo Tehreek’ will be in three phases: In the first phase, key PTI leaders and members of the parliament belonging to the party will turn themselves into police; in the second phase 500 party workers from each provincial assembly constituency will offer themselves for arrests, while in the third phase, PTI voters will surrender.

According to 24News reporter, final plan regarding the arrests had not been prepared so far.

These days, ‘Zaman Park’ has become a trend on social media.

Enthusiastic and determined PTI workers have said that Imran is their ‘Red Line’, and they will not let anybody cross that line. They have said that they are waging a Jihad.
