On the directives of Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan, the Balochistan chief secretary Thursday removed the Kachhi deputy commissioner and the district police officer over the killing of Hazara miners in Machh area.

Eleven miners belonging to Hazara community were massacred before dawn on January 3 when they were sleeping near a remote mine southeast of Quetta. Since then relatives of victims alongside the bodies have been staging a protest at Western Bypass of the provincial capital in pursuit of justice.

Countrywide demos to show solidarity with the Hazaras were also being staged, calling upon Prime Minister Imran Khan and Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa to take notice of the brutality.

The removal of two top babus was notified a day after CM Jam Kamal made an appeal to the mourners to bury the bodies.  However, the protesters have been standing firm on their demand for PM Imran Khan’s visit to assure them of proper security and safety. PM Imran Khan took to the Twitter to reassure the victims to visit them.
