Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar on Sunday took the journalists down the memory lane to their school days when in a lighter vein while mentioning the sugar business of the country’s two big political families he read a popular kindergarten rhyme “Baby baby yes mama, eating sugar no mama”.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad regarding the sugar inquiry report, Shahzad Akbar said that the beneficiaries of the sugar scandal look like the characters of the poem where a baby was asked by his mother about whether he was eating sugar. The baby said no while the mother knew that he was lying. The baby was then asked to open his mouth.
However, Shahzad Akbar instead of using the word baby said “Johnny Johnny yes mama, eating sugar no mama” which instantly brought smiles of the faces of the audience present.
The analogy is exactly the same wherein the sugar inquiry, the beneficiaries are known to be defaulters and are accused of taking sugar subsidies from various governments and now they are being asked to prove themselves not guilty.
Keeping in view Shahzad Akbar’s words, the political version of the poem should now be read as:
Johnny Johnny, Yes PM;
Eating Sugar, No PM;
Got a Subsidy, No PM;
Money Laundering, No PM;
Telling a lie? No PM;
Face the NAB inquiry, hahaha!
