The authorities Thursday produced photos of ex-PM Imran Khan’s barrack with facilities provided to him in Adiala Jail in the Supreme Court.
The pictures were presented during the hearing on the government's appeals against the nullification of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) amendments in the Supreme Court. The PTI founder joined the court proceedings through a video link.
On May 30, Imran Khan said that he was being kept in solitary confinement and remarked that if the ordinance is to be brought, the Parliament should be closed. On May 14, the Supreme Court allowed former Imran Khan to appear via video link during the hearing against the nullification of the National Accountability Bureau Amendments.
Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan Raja Muhammad Shafqat Abbasi submitted a report in response to Imran Khan’s claims saying to bring the correct factual position on record, details of monthly visits as well as pictures of the barracks Imran was staying in were attached.
The report said the court could appoint a judicial officer to verify the facts.
The pictures showed Imran’s prison room with the description outlining facilities such as an LED TV, room cooler, study table and a chair.
These showed an exclusive gallery for the PTI founder to walk in twice a day, a cupboard filled with cooking ingredients, utensils, books, an exercise machine and a “stretching belt” for physical fitness.
The report also presented the dates when people such as Imran’s relatives, legal team and PTI members met him along with information about who met him.
