The administration of the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) has increased the treatment charges manifold creating problems for the hapless patients who are already facing the country’s worst inflation.
According to the 24newsHD TV channel, the patients visiting the health facility have left with no choice but to go to the other hospitals for their ailments.
The hospital has fixed Rs 160,000 as the fee for Angioplasty while the user charges for being admitted to the CCU have been fixed at Rs 2,000 per day. Likewise, the charges for the bypass have been increased to 110,000 while the ventilator fee also reached to Rs 3000 per day.
The emergency token fee is also increased to Rs 300
Adding salt to their wounds, the patients have been asked to visit private laboratories for their routine tests. These labs charge them inflated rates.
The patients are paying different fees for the same tests and procedures in the private sector which is causing financial losses to them.
According to the administration, the KIHD is not getting funds for the last many years owing to which it has to raise user charges to provide a healthcare facility to the masses.
