In the ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Lahore Qalandars' captain, Shaheen Afridi, made a big mark in PSL history, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Afridi achieved the remarkable feat of securing a century of wickets in the PSL, becoming the third bowler to do so in the league’s history. This milestone was reached during a riveting match against Islamabad United at the Pindi Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi.
Shaheen Afridi achieved his 100th wicket milestone by dismissing Naseem Shah. This achievement places Afridi in the esteemed company of Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali, who are the first and second bowlers, respectively, to reach this milestone in the PSL. Riaz leads the pack with an impressive tally of 113 wickets, while Ali is not far behind with 107 wickets.
The match also saw Islamabad United’s captain, Shadab Khan, and his teammate, Faheem Ashraf, secure their positions in the top five wicket-takers in the PSL, with 87 and 73 wickets, respectively.
In addition to Afridi’s personal triumph, the match also marked a significant victory for Lahore Qalandars. The team emerged victorious, winning the match by seventeen runs.
Afridi’s achievement in the PSL follows his record-breaking performance in One Day International (ODI) cricket last year. He became the fastest bowler to reach 100 wickets in ODI history, surpassing Australian cricketer Mitchell Starc.
This historic milestone unfolded during Pakistan’s crucial World Cup match against Bangladesh at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata, with Afridi reaching the milestone in his 51st ODI appearance.
