An accountability court (AC) in Islamabad on Tuesday issued notices to the parties for arguments on the acquittal plea filed by former prime minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif in the Toshakhana vehicles reference, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
AC judge Nasir Javed Rana heard the Toshakhana reference filed against Nawaz Sharif, President Asif Ali Zardari and Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani.
President Zardari’s lawyer Arshad Tabrez Advocate appeared in the court, while Rana Muhammad Irfan, Nawaz’s pleader, also showed up.
Gilani’s lawyer on the occasion filed an application, seeking exemption for his client from appearance in the court, which the court accepted.
Tabrez argued that since Zardari was the president of Pakistan, therefore he enjoyed immunity in the case.
NAB prosecutor said that he had received an application in this regard and he was looking into it.
The court then adjourned the case’s hearing until June 3.
