Amid record petroleum prices in Pakistan, the fares of Metro Bus service in Islamabad have been raised massively, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) raised fare of Orange Line by Rs40, and of Green and Blue Lines the fare has been hiked by Rs20 each.

Now, the Orange Line fare has gone up from Rs50 to Rs90, the Blue Line fare from Rs30 to Rs50, the Green Line fare from Rs30 to Rs50.

Blue Line plies from Gulberg to PIMS, Green Line from Bhara Kahu to PIMS while Orange Line runs between Faiz Ahmed Faiz to New Islamabad Airport.

The CDA officials said that the increase in Metro fares was due to the hike in fuel prices.

The CDA gives Rs800 million subsidy annually on Metro Bus Service, officials said.
