Fortifying Friendship: Germany installs Buddy Bear in Quetta

Germany has installed friendship symbol Buddy Bear in Balochistan capital Quetta, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The German Consul General in Karachi Rudiger Lotz and German Honorary Consul General in Quetta Murad Baluch established the Buddy Bear at GPO chowk of Quetta celebrating 70 years of friendship between Pakistan and Germany.
Murad Baluch said that the diplomatic relations between the two countries have been going on for 70 years. The Metropolitan Corporation has cooperated a lot and renamed the GPO chowk as Berlin-Quetta Friendship Square.
He said that this is the first Buddy Bear installed in Pakistan out of the 16000 friendship symbols across the world. Germany, proving to be a good friend has been providing scholarships to students from time to time.
The German Consul General Rudiger Lotz said that the Bear represents Berlin and his outstretched hands are a sign of peace, prosperity and cooperation. Buddy Bear has been installed in various cities including Berlin, Washington and New York and we are glad to have installed one in Quetta. Buddy Bear reached Quetta after a long journey of 6000 kilometers and its installation is very important for the Pak-Germany bond, said Rudiger Lotz.
Balochistan Government’s Administrator for Quetta Jabbar Baloch said that Quetta is proud to have the first Buddy Bear of Pakistan installed and it will add to the beauty of the city and strengthen the bond between both the countries.
