First consignment of relief goods sent to quake-hit Syria

On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the first consignment of relief goods for the people of quake-hit Syria will be sent today, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The consignment of relief goods will be sent to Syrian capital Damascus through a special flight of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
The relief goods include 260 tents and 2,600 blankets. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has arranged the relief goods for the Syrian quake-hit people.
On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, humanitarian aid is being sent to the government and people of Syria.
The Pakistani medical team will leave for Damascus tomorrow.
A convoy of relief goods consisting of NDMA trucks will leave for Syria on February 10 next.
This convoy of trucks will reach Damascus on February 16 with 1,700 tonnes of relief goods including tents, blankets and other essential items.
The NDMA is also making arrangements to send an additional search and rescue team to Syria.
