Pakistan shuts borders with Afghanistan, Iran on election day

Pakistan shut down its border crossings with Afghanistan and Iran as the country votes in general elections on Thursday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Border crossings with Afghanistan and Iran would remain closed both for cargo and pedestrians to ensure full security during the polling for general elections being held today.
In a statement, Foreign Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that normal border operations would resume tomorrow.
It may be mentioned here that there was a string of terrorist attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan in the run-up to the general elections.
Only yesterday, 31 people were killed in two terrorist attacks in Balochistan cities of Pishin and Killa Saifullah.
