The deadline for receiving postal ballot papers for the upcoming general elections to the national and provincial assemblies of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan will be ending Wednesday midnight, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
Sources said that only postal ballot papers received by district returning offices before the stroke of 12 tonight will be considered valid for inclusion in the counting process. Any submissions arriving after this deadline will regrettably not be counted.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken comprehensive steps, issuing a significant number of 449,287 postal ballot papers for both national and provincial assemblies across the country.
Specifically, among this substantial quantity, 260,533 postal ballot papers have been allocated for the National Assembly, with an additional 242,754 issued for provincial assemblies.
Breaking down the distribution further, a total of 74,274 postal ballot papers have been designated for the Punjab assembly, while 26,649 have been earmarked for the Sindh assembly. Notably, the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been allocated the highest number of postal ballot papers, with 81,282 provided, closely followed by 60,550 papers issued for Balochistan's citizens.
It's important to highlight that these postal ballot papers have been distributed various people including government employees, their families, prisoners, and disabled persons, ensuring a broad and inclusive participation in the democratic process for the upcoming general elections of 2024.
