Unknown armed assailants have gunned down Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) DSP Ali Raza and his guard in Karachi’s Karimabad Area on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


According to police and rescue officials, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ali Raza, son of Syed Zafar Zaidi received severe head injuries and died on the spot while his guard Waqar died in hospital. The dead body of the martyred CTD officer and his injured guard were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.


Ali Raza was posted as DSP CTD Investigation. Meanwhile, the postmortem report showed that overall 11 bullets were shot by the terrorists and martyred DSP Ali Raza received four bullets at the neck and abdomen and one at his right hand.


Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has condemned the terror attack on DSP Ali Raza and expressed condolences to his family.


The Interior Minister has also sought a report of the incident from IG Sindh.


Meanwhile, Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hassan Lanjar has also sought a report of the incident from DIG CTD and SSP Central Karachi. Ziaul Hassan Lanjar ordered the concerned officers to arrest the elements involved in the attack.


He said the evidence available at the crime scene should be made effective and integrated during the investigation. Talking to the media, DIG CTD said that it was too early to talk about the incident. He said the vehicle of Ali Raza was bombproof. He said all CTD officials were receiving threats. DIG said CTD will trace the culprits and arrest them.
