President of the Islamabad High Court Bar Association (IHCBA) Riasat Ali Azad on Monday strongly condemned the filing of references against judges.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, IHCBA President Azad emphasised that there will be no compromise on an independent judiciary as the country can only progress through the supremacy of the constitution and law.
IHCBA President Riasat Ali Azad said any judge who speaks for an independent judiciary is essentially advocating for the constitution and law, but he faces threats and temptations.
Riasat Ali Azad also mentioned that refusing recommendations has to pay a price to judges, and if they agree to these recommendations, they receive rewards.
"We stand with the judges who say 'no' in the name of the supremacy of the constitution and law," said IHCBA President Riasat Ali Azad. He also mentioned that an executive committee meeting of the bar has been called to determine the future course of action.
He said they would discuss the maliciously filed references against six judges and the situation arising after the judges wrote a letter in the bar meeting.
