Informing that the coalition government planned to build dams in the country at a brisk pace, Federal Minister for Water Resources Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah said on Wednesday that the Mohmand Dam would be completed in 2023, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, he admitted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) received two per cent less water than its due share.

“I will visit the sites of Dasu and Bhasha dams after four days, on June 12,” he informed.

He further said that the government had to take some unpopular steps in a difficult economic situation.

The minister said that the coalition government had ordered resumption of work on the projects, which had been put in cold storage by the last Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government.

He even claimed that the government had completed some projects in four days which lay unfinished in four years of the PTI government.

Khursheed went on to add that three million tonnes of wheat would be imported this year. “Our priority is to develop the agriculture sector so that the country’s imports could be reduced,” he added.
