Two cops were killed while nine others were injured when a van carrying 13 policemen fell into a deep ravine at Shangla, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Monday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Those injured in the accident were rushed to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Puran for the provision of first aid.

However, three policemen whose condition was critical were shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital in Mingora, Swat.   

Funeral prayer for the deceased personnel was offered at Alwach Police Station, while a police contingent presented them gun salute.     

A large number of people, including DPO Shangla Muhammad Imran and SP Investigation Muzammil Shah, attended the funeral.  

The policemen were returning from Peshawar where they had gone to provide security to the teams administering polio drops to children.
