PTI fulfils promise made to overseas Pakistanis

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government on Saturday fulfilled its promise to overseas Pakistanis giving them a right of vote, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
President Arif Alvi using his powers under Article 89 of the Constitution of Pakistan, issued an ordinance under the title of Election (Second Amendment) Ordinance 2021 in this regard.
By issuing this Ordinance, an amendment had been made in two major sections — Section 94(1) and Section 103 — of the Election Act, 2017.
Section 94(1) deals with the issue of voting by overseas Pakistanis and Section 103 deals with electronic voting and biometric verification.
After issuance of the Ordinance, overseas Pakistani can cast their votes as they have a right now as well as the ECP will bound to buy the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) taking technical support of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) or any other authority and agency to ease overseas Pakistanis in this regard.
