Justice Mazhar issue: All summoned institutional chiefs evade PAC meeting

Over the issue of Supreme Court Judge Justice Mazahir Naqvi’s income and assets, all the summoned heads of the institutions evaded the meeting of the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Monday.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, the PAC meeting was held here in Islamabad on Monday, PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan chaired it and showed his anger over the absence of the institutional chiefs.
The channel report said the PAC had summoned the NAB chairman, the Finance Division’s secretary, the Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), and the NADRA chairman but all of these public officers did not appear before the committee.
When PAC Chairman Noor Alam Khan asked the Additional Secretary of the Finance Department about the secretary, he informed that the secretary has gone to Lahore High Court (LHC). Same to it, the Special Secretary of KP appeared before the committee in place of the Chief Secretary.
While the NAB officials told the committee that Chairman NAB is on sick leave today. Noor Alam said in case of his sickness then where is the Deputy Chairman NAB or why is the letter not written PAC Chairman?
Chairman NADRA also did not appear in the PAC meeting as he was not present in the city, the committee was informed by the NADRA officials.
Watching the absence of the high-ups in the meeting, Noor Alam said to the officials that it shows how seriously you take things.
In the meeting, the committee members urged the PAC Chairman to ask the officers whom you summoned the reason for not coming. They also suggested the chairman that should request the records of Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi from the institutions.
