Former federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Saad Rafique on Tuesday said that the federal government’s Rs1,100b billion package for rain-ravaged Karachi is an eyewash, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Talking to media persons after appearing before an accountability court in Lahore, Saad Rafique said “Keep this in mind, it was also Imran Khan who first showed rosy pictures to the nation and now he is showing it to the people of Karachi.” He said the aid package amount is more than the annual development fund of the country. “Why would they give so much money to just Karachi,” he added.

He said inflation and unemployment have made people's lives miserable and said it is the responsibility of the opposition to play their role.

Saad Rafique said the PTI government needs to change its direction and now the government's behaviour is unbearable. He expressed his hope that opposition’s All Parties Conference (APC) results will be beneficial.

Commenting on the rumours of presidential form of governance, the PML-N leader said if anyone wants to change the parliamentary structure of Pakistan it is tantamount to changing the structure of the constitution.

Saad Rafique said the PTI government does not want PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to come back to the country. He further said there have been injustices and wrongdoings committed in the Nawaz Sharif case and the PML-Q Quaid left the country in critical conditions.

Saad Rafique advised his own party Quaid Nawaz Sharif to focus on his health.
