Federal govt weighs mandatory retirement package for employees

The federal government is finalizing mandatory retirement package "Severance Package", which will be applicable to all civil servants without any concession, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The package will apply to employees of the ministries and departments which are either abolished or merged with others, the proposal said. The federal government will offer a package to the employees of the affected ministries, the proposal said.
The government will introduce a compulsory retirement package with necessary amendments to the Civil Servants Act, 1973.
The Federal Cabinet had approved an amendment to the Civil Servant Act, 1973 for a severance package.
The government has decided to include Compulsory Retirement Package in Civil Servant Act 1973. The government will also amend Section 2(1) H and Section 11C of the Civil Servants Act, 1973.
According to the package, the government servant will submit his application before the committee constituted by the Prime Minister within seven days, the proposal said. The committee will decide on the request of the civil servant within 30 days, recommendation. If a government employee does not accept the severance package, his services will be terminated, the proposal said.
The amendment to the Civil Servant Act, 1973 was also approved by the Cabinet Committee on Legislation. The amendments to the Civil Servants Act, 1973 will be approved by the Federal Cabinet.
