The Christian community is celebrating Easter with tradition zeal and religious fervor across the country on Sunday, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Special services are being hosted at different churches across the country where the Christian community is praying for salvation, and for the prosperity of the country amid tight security. 

At St. Merry Church in Gulberg, Lahore, Father Qaisar Feroz held special Easter service in which a large number of Christians participated. 

The Easter services were also held at Sacred Heart Cathedral Church in Regal Chowk. Archbishop Sebastian Francis Shaw led the prayers. 

Easter Sunday is one of the most festive events among Christians worldwide which commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death, according to the Bible.

The Christians celebrating the festival in Pakistan receive heartfelt greetings from their fellow countrymen which manifests an atmosphere of religious and cultural harmony in the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday felicitated the Christian community around the world, particularly the Pakistani Christian brothers and sisters on celebrating Easter.

On his Twitter handle, the prime minister wished a very happy Easter to the Christian community.

“Wishing a very happy Easter to Christian community around the world, particularly our Pakistani Christian brothers & sisters celebrating this day. Let us all vow to do our bit in making the world a peaceful place where communities can live in harmony & build a tomorrow of hope.”

In his Easter message, Foreign Minister and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari extended his warmest greetings to his Christian brothers and sisters in Pakistan and around the world. 

Taking to his Twitter handle, Bilawal wrote: “On this blessed occasion of #Easter, I extend my warmest greetings to our Christian brothers and sisters in #Pakistan and around the world. May this day inspire us all to work towards a world where all faiths and communities can live in peace, harmony, and mutual respect.”

On this occasion, caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi congratulated the Christian community on Easter. 

He said we equally share in the joys of the Christian community. Easter provides us an opportunity to spend time and share happiness with the hapless and deserving. 

He said that the Christian community is peaceful and respectable to us. He said that the Christian community had not only contributed to the Pakistan Movement but it is also playing an active role in the development of the country. 

Former president and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari also congratulated the Christian community on Easter.

He said the services of the Christian community for Pakistan are unforgettable. He called upon all non-Muslim citizens living in Pakistan to educate their children. He opined that non-Muslims living in Pakistan should not be called minority. He said according to 1973 Constitution, all citizens are equal. 

Zardari said that Shaheed Shahbaz Bhatti is the hero of Pakistan Peoples Party. We will be able to get the country out of difficulties only by becoming a Pakistani nation, he said adding that our Holy Prophet (PBUH) has taught us to respect all religions. 

Former premier and PTI Chairman Imran Khan also greeted the Christian community on Easter.
