Pakistan’s mystery spinner Abrar Ahmad Friday had a dream Test debut when he derailed England's batting line-up with a mind-blowing performance with the ball in Multan.

Abrar finished the first innings with figures of 7-114, the third-best on debut for a Pakistani bowler.

Top of the list is former Pakistan speedster Zahid Mahmood who achieved the feat against New Zealand in 1996 against New Zealand in Rawalpindi when he finished with 7-66.

The second spot belongs to former Pakistan off-spinner Muhammad Nazir, also known as Nazir Junior, who took 7-99 in 1969 against New Zealand in Karachi.

Abrar claimed the England opener Zak Crawley clean bowled off his fifth ball and successfully went on to pick another six wickets.

Ahmed’s variations challenged England’s aggression on a bowling-friendly wicket. At one point Ahmed had all the seven wickets until Zahid Mahmood break the streak with his three for.

By the lunch break, Abrar had already picked up five wickets. Abrar dismissed Zack Crawley, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook only to become the first Pakistan bowler to pick up five wickets in the first session on his Test debut.
