Drug prices likely to be hiked by 24pc today

The decision will be made today whether the prices of medicines will increase or not, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

As per the official sources, an important meeting of Pakistan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PPMA) and the Ministry of Health will be held in Karachi at 3pm today.

The Ministry of Health is expected to increase the prices of medicines by 24 per cent.

The pharmaceutical companies have prepared proposals regarding the increase in the prices of medicines.

A 38.5 per cent increase in prices of medicines will be proposed.

The pharmaceutical companies have demanded an increase in the prices of 119 medicines.

Among these 119 medicines are drugs for the treatment of blood pressure, TB, diabetes, etc.

The proposals are being made to raise the prices of medicines amid rising prices of raw materials due to expensive dollar.
