Bajaur bomb blast toll rises to seven as two injured cops expire

Two more police personnel who were injured in the Bajaur bomb blast yesterday, passed away on Tuesday; thus bringing the total number of people dying in the incident to seven, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As many as 24 people were injured in the blast near a police van in the Mamund tehsil of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district on Monday.
The blast took place when a truck carrying around 25 police personnel for the purpose of providing security cover to polio teams was targeted by an IED (improvised explosive device), Anwarul Haq, a senior government official in Bajaur district, told AFP.
Dr Wazir Khan Safi, the medical superintendent at Khar District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ), said that 12 of the wounded were being treated at the hospital while 10 other seriously injured had been referred to a hospital in Peshawar.
A spokesman of Peshwar's Lady Reading Hospital informed on Tuesday that two of the injured cops succumbed to their injuries.
