JI announces Jan 17 nationwide protest against electricity tariff

Jamaat-e-Islami has announced nationwide protest on January 17 against hefty electricity tariff, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore on Thursday, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Hafiz Naeem said that the Jamaat raised the issue of independent power producers (IPPs).
“If one thousand billion rupees were saved by closing down IPPs then why the bills haven’t been reduced,” Hafiz Naeem asked.
He said the economic conditions of the people are getting worse and worse but why aren't the prices of petrol and food items decreasing?
